FAQ

What should I choose between Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy?
A Physiotherapy focuses on improving movement, mobility, and function by using a variety of exercises, stretches, or other physical activities whereas Occupational Therapy focuses on performing daily tasks more easily by improving Sensory processing abilities, Eye-Hand coordination, fine & gross motor skills, Cognitive & attention skills and body awareness etc by using purposeful activities instead of exercises.
How Occupational Therapy helps?
The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable an individual to participate in the activities of everyday life. Some may experience difficulties with learning skills (eating, sleeping, feeding, growing, play, school, activities, etc.) or using these skills independently. Occupational Therapy enables them to have success at skills they may have been reluctant to try in the past.
Why does my child need Occupational therapy?
As child has been identified having difficulties with his/her development. This may be in the area of physical, academic, independence, emotional or social development where occupational therapy can help with.
How often do we need to come to Occupational Therapy and how long will we have to keep coming?
Frequency of therapy is determined by an initial assessment. Length of therapy is determined by a child’s individual progress as well as the parent’s goals for therapy.
How do I know if my child needs Occupational Therapy?
If you or anyone supporting your child’s health or education (e.g. Paediatrician, Neurologist & Teacher) is concerned about your child’s development or they are struggling with their daily activities, Occupational Therapy sessions may be able to help them. ‘Daily activities’ can range from focusing and learning at school, tying their shoelaces, making new friends, participating in sports, toileting, doing their homework, eating dinner without having a meltdown — any part of their daily life.
How will I know whether a child need speech therapy or not?
If a child is making no attempt to vocalize, avoiding eye contact, not smiling, laughing or engaging socially with others. These are important milestones and early intervention is crucial to prevent potential developmental delays.
What is the right age for speech therapy?
There is no right age for speech therapy since speech therapy focuses on so many different skills: speech, language, social and organizational. Early intervention is crucial but the exact age for early intervention differs based on the sound or skill you are trying to correct.
What happens during speech therapy?
Speech therapy usually begins with an assessment by a Speech Language Pathologist who will identify the type of communication disorder and the best way to treat it.
How long do one need speech therapy?

  • Age
  • Type and severity of the speech disorder

Should I worry if my child stutters?

Will my child grow out of it?
